Eventually, section two leads to the magnificent carousel room, the piece de resistance that somehow isn’t the end. To exit, you’ll walk through the red-carpeted throat of a demon. Jordan sold the house in 1988 to a friend who continued building on the site, adding to the collections of knick-knacks and exhibits featuring authentic pieces, reproductions, and specially-made examples of everything. The most recent addition is the "Spirit of Aviation", a collection of large model airplanes in a themed room. Another exhibit, the "Transportation Building", is under construction, but visitors can walk through and view the work in progress. Jordan built the house as a weekend retreat and never intended it to be a tourist attraction.

American Gods was turned into a tv series in 2017, and much of season 2 was filmed at the House on the Rock in May 2018. Gaiman and the cast showed up to the Wisconsin attraction to shoot numerous scenes for the show. Meanwhile, at Christmas, sections 1 & 2 are decked out in holiday decorations. The special Christmas program runs from November 19 through January 1. During that time, the House is still closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and all holidays.

This is one of the nicer hotels in the immediate Spring Green area. You’ll get a comfortable room with free wifi, parking, and breakfast. The band 10,000 Maniacs filmed their 1997 music video for “More Than This” at the House on the Rock Wisconsin. Scenes from the video show the self-playing piano and, of course, the big carousel. Those who are interested in the man should spend extra time in the Alex Jordan Jr. Center, one of the section 1 rooms that all visitors to the site can access.
Wisconsin's House on the Rock Isn't a Kitschy Roadside Attraction -- It's a Walk Through a Dream
This house is picturesque and has a fabulous fairytale vibe to it. The front of the mansion features a large white door with pillars on either side that the family loves to decorate for the season. The property has a colossal 18,000 square feet of living space spread across the main mansion as well as the detached 2,500-square-foot guesthouse. Perhaps the music is so foreboding because it is a disappointment when visitors learn that no one is allowed to ride it. But at the end of its 218-foot length, the room has progressively narrowed to one inch in width. He constructed it to jut out over the valley below with no vertical support beneath, building in 3,264 windows and including a glass pane in the floor.

Some of the houses are famous because of the architecture while others are famous for being used in movies and tv shows. There are so many different ways that we are spoiled in Southern California but the incredible variety of homes that we can visit is truly something special. Please note that not all of the homes on this list are open to the public but I will make sure to specify which ones are available for you to visit vs which ones you can drive by. Visits by Jordan to tourist attractions like Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm in California led to the idea of creating a separate building to house a “main street” of themed buildings. The store windows were a convenient way to exhibit the ever-growing collections he had hired buyers to search for and acquire from around the world. There are many reasons to visit House on the Rock, from the stunning views of the surrounding countryside to the nearly 200-foot-long Infinity Room that offers a breathtaking glimpse into the valley below.
The house pictured is where the Heck family lived in The Middle. The Happy Days House is located near Paramount Studios where the show was filmed. I visited Garry Marshall’s grave the day after I came to see this house so it felt like a very full-circle moment. Brandon and Brenda Walsh did not actually live in the zip code or Beverly Hills. Parking to take a photo at this particular home was not as easy as some of the others.

John Connor’s House From Terminator 2: Judgement Day
The Hollyhock House was designed by Frank Llyod Wright for Aline Barnsdall though she quickly became disillusioned with the home and donated it to the city of LA. The hollyhock was Aline’s favorite flower and was used as a theme throughout the house. Even if you cannot tour the home it is visible from the park and the city views are wonderful as well. I recommend stopping by for at least a quick visit if you can. I have not been able to confirm if the grounds are still open to the public during COVID 19. The Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills feels like the perfect home to kick off this list with.

He designed the home there after leaving Oak Park, Illinois. From Taliesin, Wright designed some of his most famous works, including Fallingwater. The giant carousel is part of Section 2, meaning that it’s part of all the tours except for the Original House Experience. This is one of the most popular sections of the House, called the Infinity Room.
Stroller Wagons are not permitted.• The House on the Rock is a walking experience that encompasses many ramps, varied surfaces and outdoor areas. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for these conditions.• Guests that are affected by claustrophobia and acrophobia may find a few areas difficult. The House on the Rock offers different experiences depending on the time of year.
North of Long Beach in San Pedro you can find the spot that was used for the school Anchor Beach on the series which you can read about in this post. This house is within walking distance from Fox Studios where the show was filmed so that worked out well for them. The Brady Bunch House has been one of the most exciting homes that I have visited so far. After HGTV did the makeover of the house I was hoping that they might open it up for fans to see. It just happens to be five minutes away from my favorite place to eat.
He wanted exotic animals and fanciful creations that were anything but a traditional merry-go-round horse, and he had his cadre of talented artists build them to match his drawings. What Jordan ended up with were fanciful centaurs, dragons, peacocks and mermaids pulling a royal carriage, all swirling in a dark room lighted by 20,000 twinkling lights. When the dollhouse collection was completed, each residence had been given appropriate architectural detailing, painting, wallpaper and electrification.
From the photos that I have seen online the inside looks really interesting. This adorable home stands out on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. The rumor is that this house was owned by Ruth Handler, the creator of Barbie. You can park in one of the beach parking lots and walk down to the home or park by one of the neighbors. PCH is a really busy road so it won’t always feel easy to stop for the photo. You can see my photos of various movies and TV show houses from my visit to the Warner Bros Ranch.
But our favorite out of all of Dwayne Johnson’s houses is the massive 46-acre equestrian estate he owns in Powder Springs, Georgia. Located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac behind massive iron gates, the private estate first wows visitors with its mature trees and manicured lawns. His estate was described as “a complete resort” in a previous listing and, after taking a look at it, we have to agree that it’s indeed a palatial property worthy of the moniker. Dwayne Johnson lives in a beautiful $27.8 million mansion in Los Angeles’ exclusive Beverly Park neighborhood, along with his wife Lauren Hashian, and their adorable kids.
